Does my site need to be on page
one of Google?
Some of our clients just want to use their web site
as a back up and supporting resource to other marketing
activities so in these cases Google is not important.
For all others the better the rating the more hits
you get , the more hits you get the more important
your site is in the eyes of the search engines,
the more important it is the higher the ranking,
the higher the ranking the more hits you get ....
on so on - you get the idea.
Can you Guarantee to get me to number
one?
The answer to that is Yes we could, but we don't.
But don't be fooled, many companies offer this guarantee
and unless you are happy that your domain name is
what people will be looking for it is of no real
value. Let me explain:-
Take Truska, our
domain name is truska.com. Type Truska into Google
and you are most likely to find me in the top 3
or 4 and probably number 1. Looks good, yes. But
I provide web design, hosting, document management
and backup services. So who, unless they know about
Truska, more later, is going to type in Truska to
find a web designer - I suggest nobody. What I need
to be listed in Google for is Web Design or Document
Management. Try that I still have a long way to
go to be page 1. Using product brand names can often
get you listed higher. In our case type INVU in
and we should be on page 1.
Regarding your business name and why
is it less important. If someone wants to find you
and they know about you they will find you, if not
on the web and your site they will use other on-line
and off line directors etc. so being guaranteed
number one for Truska is of no really help. I will
probably be well rated anyway with a decent site
but potential clients searching for me will find
me one way of the other. What I want, or in the
words of the Spice Girls, "what I really really
want" is to be number one for "web design".
More and more people are using place names, geographic
searches, now such as web design belfast. That is
a good first target and there are ways of promoting
that which we build into all our web sites as standard.
It is simply put your name and full address on every
page of your site.
The whole art, and some say it is
an art, others a science, of search engine optimisation
