To have a web site you require a server to host your pages, assuming
you do not have your own domain name. This can be free by using
free space provided by your ISP (Internet Service
Provider) with your dial-up account or you can purchase your
own domain name and arrange for it to be hosted on an appropriate
server.
Using your ISP is fine for a personal site but not for a business
site as the web address will probably be long and not relevant to
your business name.
Your own domain name is the better option for business sites. Registering
your name does not cost much and Truska can organise this for you.
You then need a server on which to host the site and again Truska
can organise this. Hosting costs vary depending on requirements
and we can advise on what is the best option to meet your needs.
Having your own Domain name is not only for hosting a web site.
It is also used for your e-mail address. You can have unlimited
numbers of e-mail addresses all @your-domain-name. This looks more
professional than, say, a name@hotmail.com and ties your Internet
use together. People can work out your domain name from your e-mail
address etc.
Truska looks at your internet use as a whole and not as individual
units each operating differently. If we are registering a domain
name and/or developing a web site for your company we offer free
advice on how to get the best from the 'net as a whole.
Please feel free to call or e-mail
for further information, pricing or just a chat on how you should
proceed. We try to take the technical terms out of it and explain
what you need in plain English.
